XML Parsing Error: not well-formed

I’m getting the same problem on Windows XP with IIS and VWD installed. Compiled and run in VWD works fine but when browse from IIS it does not work. IE and Firefox post slightly different messages:

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Line Number 1, Column 2:

1. Check whether virtual directory is configured for the app and .net is registered with IIS.

2. yes i have configured the virtual directory. And verified the registration by executing the cmd aspnet_regiis.exe -lk. Is there any other way to verify the .net registration with the IIS

3. Virtual directory –> right click –> properties –> asp.net tab

4. thats shows version 2.0.50727.0 correctly

5. Did you reset the iis and checked…

I finally found the problem.

You need to run aspnet_regiis.exe with -i option/switch

For more information, visit: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/cptools/html/cpgrfaspnetiisregistrationtoolaspnet_regiisexe.asp

Here’s what I did on my XP to fix the problem:

Start > Search > All files and folders > Type aspnet_regiis.exe into search box, and search it under your Windows file (C:\WINDOWS)

I found it at C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50215

Go to DOS command line, change to above directory then execute:

> aspnet_regiis.exe -i

You might need to restart IIS service or your computer.
